  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter (for topping)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and stir in the apple cider. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and apple pie spice.
  4. In another bowl, mix sugar and egg into the cider-butter mixture until blended.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until just mixed; do not over-mix.
  6. Spray a donut pan with cooking spray; fill molds with batter using a piping bag or spoon.
  7. Bake for about 7 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly on a rack.
  8. For topping, melt butter and mix cinnamon with sugars in separate bowls; dip each donut first in butter then in sugar mixture.
